Schauenburg Analytics Ltd announces appointment of new CEO

The Schauenburg Analytics Group (Markes International & SepSolve Analytical) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nigel Fry as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

As of September 2023, Fry became responsible for all aspects of the business operations of Schauenburg Analytics Ltd and its subsidiaries, Markes International Ltd and SepSolve Analytical Ltd.

Fry joins the company from Antylia Scientific (formerly Cole-Palmer), where he served as Managing Director and Vice President International, for over three years. Prior to Antylia Scientific, Fry held a number of executive roles within GE Healthcare.

“Nigel brings many years of deep, senior-level management experience to the table,” said Schauenburg Analytics’ Founding Director, Alun Cole, adding: “We’re looking forward to him applying that expertise to our group, enabling all companies to capitalise on their strong market positions and grow further.”

Schauenburg Analytics Ltd comprises Markes International Ltd and SepSolve Analytical Ltd – both established by Cole and Elizabeth Woolfenden over 25 years ago. With the appointment of Fry, Cole and Woolfenden will move into advisory roles alongside the other group shareholders for Schauenburg Analytics Ltd.

Both Markes and SepSolve are headquartered in the UK, and have offices and laboratories in Shanghai (China), Offenbach (Germany) and Sacramento (USA), from which they support their global customer base.

Markes International is world-renowned for its expertise in thermal desorption (TD), and regarded as a leader in the manufacture and supply of TD instrumentation and associated supplies. It has developed several award-winning patented technologies that greatly enhance the analysis of trace volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds by GC–MS. In more recent years, Markes has built on its TD foundations to develop automated sample preparation/extraction platforms. As a result, the company is fast becoming renowned for sample extraction and concentration systems that deliver exceptional performance for both research and routine analyses.

Its sister company, SepSolve Analytical, manufactures GC×GC, time-of-flight mass spectrometers and associated chemometric and data mining software, which are used to provide laboratories with comprehensive analytical workflow systems.

It’s to this multi-faceted company structure that Fry steps in at the helm. He commented: “It’s a very exciting point in time for me to join the business. The brands are well established and highly regarded in their markets, and I am really looking forward to seeing how we can grow this great business working as one team.”
